“Would anyone be up for a late night Sauna session while we are at Bodensee (Germany)?” LeAnna asked in the group chat about an upcoming Bloggers Retreat. Nobody attending the weekend had ever met in person before.
Morgan, immediately typed back, “Uuum, YES GIRL! ME!”
You could say the rest is history, but that is leaving a lot to our story out.
That night, sitting naked amongst and with complete strangers looking out over Germany, Austria, and Switzerland simultaneously from the beach of Lake Constance, Morgan and LeAnna realized there was so much more in common between the two than just loving a good “Sauna- Sesh!”

In between the intense Aufgüsse in the Saunas, we opened up to one another about the immense healing that the German Sauna Culture had provided us both individually, despite never meeting one another before this night.
We realized our stories were personal and individual to themselves, yet resoundingly common. Admittance to past eating disorders to try to look the way society told us to in our younger days, confusion about the havoc peri-menopause is doing to our bodies (and minds!), frustration with our “post-baby” bodies, and the sadness over the state of women’s body rights.
But we also felt anger. Anger that we have lived our whole lives, attempting these self- acceptance journeys in isolation when there was clearly a population of women all wanting to break free of our negative body images! Why should we all feel ashamed, guilty, and alone when clearly the answer was unity and support?
Afterall, one of the most liberating parts of experiencing a German Sauna is the nudity factor of it all. Terrifying at first, it quickly becomes the most empowering aspect of the Sauna.
All Bodies. All Shapes. All Imperfections. All Sizes. All Colors.
And while we laugh often about how we are going to single handedly tear down the patriarchy by taking back the feminine form, we know that can’t happen with just two woman who love to sauna. But could it happen with a movement of women that do it together? Maybe. Just Maybe.
And THAT is how Sauna Adventures was created. Today, Sauna Adventures is so much more than “Women’s Wellness Retreats.”
We want every woman to love her body in all forms, ages, struggles, successes, and stages of life. Sure, doing so by deep diving into the world of German Saunas may be an odd way to do it, but nobody has ever called Morgan and LeAnna “Normal” before- why start now?
